ifa-Galerie Berlin

Am 14. September 2023 eröffnet die ifa-Galerie Berlin im Rahmen der Berlin Art Week die Ausstellung von Memory Biwa & Robert Machiri (15. September – 22.Oktober 2023). Für die ifa-Galerie entwickelt das Klangduo mit dem Namen Listening at Pungwe, einen Versammlungsort, ’Neath Baobabs [Unter Affenbrotbäumen], eine Simulation im Schatten eines Affenbrotbaums, die zum ephemeren Raum für Dichter:innen, Aufständische, Geschichtenerzähler:innen, Sänger:innen und DJs wird.  

Noch bis zum 13. August 2023 ist in der Berliner Galerie die Einzelausstellung Das Hohelied der Vögel / The Canticle of the Birds von Katia Kameli zu sehen. Darin verbindet die Künstlerin, die sich in ihren Werken unter anderem mit Konstruktion und Dekonstruktion von Geschichte, Sprache und der Suche nach Identität beschäftigt, Keramikfiguren, Aquarelle und Skizzen sowie eine filmische Neuproduktion zu einem poetischen Ganzen.  

ifa-Galerie Stuttgart

Die Ausstellung von Katia Kameli wandert im September in die ifa-Galerie Stuttgart (8. September – 29. Oktober 2023). Dort werden aktuell und noch bis zum 20. August 2023 Zeichnungen, Fotografien, Videos und die Instrumenten-Serie Phonosophia der brasilianischen Künstlerin Camila Sposati in ihrer ersten umfassenden Einzelausstellung in Deutschland gezeigt. Sposati hinterfragt verschiedene Annahmen und Kategorien, die die westliche Denkweise prägen. 

Die ifa-Galerien verschränken in diesem Jahr ihr Ausstellungsprogramm in Stuttgart und Berlin und bearbeiten transkulturelle Verbindungen über geografische und zeitliche Räume hinweg, mit einem besonderen Fokus auf Sound und Erde, als Medien, Material und Akteur. 

Anknüpfend an ihre Intervention im September 2022 in der ifa-Galerie Stuttgart  „When Gathering Ruins Through Ceremony, Objects Become Songs” / Sonorous Bodies, Part II, entwickeln sie in der ifa-Galerie Berlin einen Versammlungsort, ’Neath Baobabs [Unter Affenbrotbäumen], eine Simulation im Schattens eines Affenbrotbaums, der als ephemerer Raum für Dichter:innen, Aufständische, Geschichtenerzähler:innen, Sänger:innen und DJs dient. Zur Eröffnung und zur Berlin Art Week, wurde Jumoke Adeyanju eingeladen, ein Programm zum Thema Auralität zu entwickeln. Was noch…Center of Unfinished Business 

Der von den Contemporary And-Herausgeberinnen Julia Grosse und Yvette Mutumba kuratierte Leseraum der Galerie Center of Unfinished Business ist für die Besucher:innen der ifa-Galerie Berlin bis Dezember 2023 zugänglich. Er bietet eine Auswahl an Büchern, die auf verschiedene Weise mit dem Thema kolonialer Hinterlassenschaften verbunden sind und die Auswirkungen und multiplen Realitäten der heutigen Zeit aufzeigen. 

Movement Research ACROSS – POLY(e)MOTION

Die ifa-Galerie Berlin kooperiert mit dem ACROSS-Festival: Am 15., 16. und 17. Juni 2023 bespielen eine Vielzahl an Künstler:innen mit ihren facettenreichen Performances und Workshops die Galerie Wedding und den anliegenden Rathausvorplatz Wedding.  

All Times News from Stuttgart and Other Cities: Medien- und Video-Workshop für ukrainische Jugendliche

Die ifa-Galerie Stuttgart zeigt im Rahmen der Ausstellung Kunst und Leben in Zeiten des Krieges (17. Juni bis 13. August 2023) im Württembergischen Kunstverein Videoarbeiten, die mit der ukrainischen Künstlerin Alevtina Kakhidze enstanden sind. In ihrem Video-Workshop werden die Teilnehmenden am 17.6. und 18.6.2023 zu/m Reporter:in ihrer Gegenwart und Zukunft. In einem Pop-up-Studio erarbeiten ukrainische Jugendliche Neuigkeiten aus ihrer Nachbarschaft. Was geht dort aktuell vor sich? Was erinnert euch an die Vergangenheit? Und wie kann die Zukunft aussehen? 

Über die ifa-Galerien

Die Galerien des ifa – Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen in Stuttgart und Berlin zeigen zeitgenössische Kunst aus einer globalen Perspektive. Postkoloniale Bewegungen werden ebenso in den Blick genommen wie künstlerische Reflexionen zu den Themen Migration, Umwelt und kulturelle Transfers. Die Welt aus einer Vielfalt und Pluralität von Perspektiven zu betrachten und neu zu erzählen, ist dabei zu einer Arbeitsweise geworden, mit der die ifa-Galerien emanzipatorische Prozesse, Interaktionen und künstlerische Räume gestalten.

Im Zentrum steht dabei die Entwicklung von langfristigen Beziehungen mit Künstler:innen, Partner:innen und Besucher:innen. ifa Gallery Berlin

On 14 September 2023 ifa Gallery Berlin will opening the exhibition by Memory Biwa & Robert Machiri (15 September – 22 October 2023) as part of Berlin Art Week. At ifa Gallery Berlin, the sound duo named Listening at Pungwe will be developing a space of conviviality, ’Neath Baobabs, a simulation of a baobab tree’s shade, that will serves as an ephemeral gathering place for poets, rioters, storytellers, vocalists, and DJs. 

Until 13 August 2023 the solo exhibition Das Hohelied der Vögel / The Canticle of the Birds by Katia Kameli will be on view at ifa Gallery Berlin. In the exhibition, Kameli, whose works, among other things, deal with the construction and deconstruction of history, language, and the search for identity, combines ceramic sculptures, watercolors, silk paintings, sketches, and a new film into one poetic whole. 

Ifa Gallery Stuttgart

Until 20 August 2023, ifa Gallery Stuttgart is showing drawings, photographs, videos, and the instrument series Phonosophia by Brazilian artist Camila Sposati in her first comprehensive exhibition in Germany. Sposati challenges various assumptions and categories that have shaped Western thought. In September, Katia Kameli´s exhibition will move there from the Berlin Gallery to ifa Gallery Stuttgart (8 September – 29 October 2023).  The ifa galleries are intertwining their exhibition programs this year, exploring transcultural connections across geographical and temporal spaces with a special focus on sound and earth as media, materials, and empowered agents.

Building on their intervention at the ifa Gallery Stuttgart, in September 2022, titled „When Gathering Ruins Through Ceremony, Objects Become Songs” / Sonorous Bodies, Part II, they are now developing a space of conviviality at ifa Gallery Berlin, ’Neath Baobabs. Aiming to replicate the shady area under a baobab tree, the space will serve as an ephemeral gathering place for poets, rioters, storytellers, vocalists, and DJs. For the opening during Berlin Art Week, Jumoke Adeyanju was invited to develop a program around the topic of aurality. What else…Center of Unfinished Business at ifa Gallery Berlin 

Curated by the editors of Contemporary And Julia Grosse and Yvette Mutumba, the Center of Unfinished Business is a reading room open to the gallery’s visitors until December 2023. It features a selection of books that are connected in various ways to the subject of colonial legacies, highlighting the implications and multiple realities of the contemporary era. 

Movement Research ACROSS – POLY(e)MOTION

ifa-Galerie Berlin in collaboration with the ACROSS-Festival: On 15, 16 and 17 June 2023, a variety of artists will be staging their multifaceted performances and workshops at Galerie Wedding and on the nearby square outside Rathaus Wedding, the district´s town hall. 

All Times News from Stuttgart and Other Cities – Media and Video Workshop for Young Ukrainians

As part of the exhibition Art and Life in Times of War (17 June to 13 August 2023) at the Württembergischer Kunstverein, ifa Gallery Stuttgart is showing video works created together with the Ukrainian artist Alevtina Kakhidze. In her workshop on 17. /18. June 2023 Ukrainian participants will become reporters from the past, present, and future in a pop-up studio at ifa Gallery Stuttgart, acting as broadcaster for their neighborhood. What are the best and most unusual current developments in the city? Which places serve as reminders of the past? And what could the future look like?
