Unorthodox Orthodox by Local Suicide

Embark on a sonic odyssey. Iptamenos Discos presents a thrilling fusion of sound by label heads Local Suicide and Velax. The collaboration blossomed when the Berlin based Greco-German DJ duo, Local Suicide, crossed paths with Velax during his sojourn in Mexico City. Hailing from the frigid city of Surgut in Russia, Velax brings a narrative from the existential realm. He is crafting music under various aliases for nearly a decade.

Fatigued by the dichotomy of truth and falsehood, good and evil, Velax transcended to a metaphysical plane to weave his tales. Meanwhile, Local Suicide’s distinctive blend of dark disco, new wave, EBM and techno serves as the perfect complement to Velax’s vision. This EP also boasts high class remixes: from the esteemed French icon, Arnaud Rebotini, and the visionary Mexican artist, Andre VII.

Keep Driving

The journey commences with “Keep Driving”, a hypnotic track charged with tension and dark undertones. It engulfs you in a dystopian cityscape, cloaked in fog, with imposing metallic structures looming overhead.

“Feel Inclined” pulsates with kinetic energy, driven by a punchy bassline that propels the track forward. Its breakdown descends into a whirlwind of synths, evoking a sense of chaos and disorientation before the percussion reignites the groove.

“Unorthodox Orthodox” adopts a slower pace, allowing the punchy kick and snare to dominate. Metallic synths create a hypnotic ambiance, blurring the line between the familiar and the alien.

Deft vocal chops and propulsive percussion

Andre VII is a prominent figure in the Mexican electronic music landscape. Recognized for his imprint Platino Records, for running the renowned club Bar Oriente in Mexico City and curating Sonar Festival in Mexico. His remix of “Toro” by El Columpio Asesino has gained widespread acclaim over the past year. He has graced prominent stages, championed by techno heavyweights like I Hate Models, Regal and Amelie Lens. Equally remarkable is his reinterpretation of “Moustache”, Local Suicide & Skelesys’ hit featured on Local Suicide’s debut album “Eros Anikate”. With his take on”Keep Driving”, Andre VII injects his signature flair, constructing an irresistible, danceable groove accentuated by deft vocal chops and propulsive percussion.

Arnaud Rebotini is a multifaceted talent hailing from France. Rebotini is excelling as an author, composer, performer and producer. With a notable recognition as one of the co-founder of the Electroclash ensemble, Black Strobe. Beyond his extensive discography, Rebotini has garnered acclaim for his contributions to award-winning film scores and his enthralling live performances. His take on “Unorthodox Orthodox” infuses the track with breakbeats, warm bass tones, vocoded vocals, and futuristic synths. Exceptionally creating an ethereal transmission evoking the sensation of tuning into an otherworldly radio station.
