Dina Summer – Fuel & Voodoo via Iptamenos Discos

Fuel by Dina Summer is a dark electro-EBM rush: pounding bass, metallic drums, and hypnotic vocals drive an obsessive, high-voltage dancefloor ignition!

Reading Time:
2–3 minutes

Dina Summer’s latest single “Fuel” is a live-wire track that takes inspiration from 90s electro and EBM. Dark and insistent, the track locks into motion from its first second. It begins with a lone vocal line: “Core connection”, which Dina fires off like a starting pistol, then the bass synth kicks in and the track sets off.

Start your engines: Fuel Up

The track’s production works together with a mechanical precision; synths ricochet like current rushing through wires and the metallic drumline evokes the pounding of machinery. With this foundation of throbbing bass and industrial textures, “Fuel” roars like the engine of an accelerating motorbike.

Dina’s spoken word delivery cuts through the mix, commanding our attention. Her vocals thrum with confidence over the production, as she declares “I am your fuel / I’m your fire” on the chorus, repeated like a mantra. Obsession drives the track’s relentless charge. Lyrics such as “Touch the contact / Feel the shock / Every second on the clock” convey a desire which is as addictive as it is painful.

The result is a track that’s slightly sinister but impossible to resist. It’s an ode to a relationship which is certainly all-consuming and co-dependent, but not wholly destructive. In fact, the intense energy described in its lyrics feels generative, as Dina describes herself as “The fuse…The tank…The drive”. When channelled properly, the same energy which can burn you down can also build you up.

With its Disco Punk and Electroclash edge, “Fuel” already feels right at home on a dark dancefloor, but if you finished it craving more, its extended version adds an outro which goes full-throttle.

Voodoo

Beware – Dina Summer’s new single “Voodoo” might just make your limbs move uncontrollably. The band’s latest offering is a techno-tinged electro stomper that draws its dark energy from the trio’s Berlin home. The track begins like a spell being cast as sinister arpeggios drive through the mix and the pressure builds with each bar.

“Voodoo” pulls us onto the dancefloor with menacing synth bass stabs and rapid-fire vocal chops, creating a hypnotic energy that feels like dark magic. The production is unrelenting. Gated vocal textures chop and stutter – “Voodoo / Fever dreams / Voodoo / Feel the pain” – as the cavernous bass line drives the track forward with intensity.

The band is by now well known for taking retro sounds and adding a modern spin. This time, they conjure 90s electro and techno influences to form a track which is uncompromising and seductive.

The lyrics draw heavily on dangerous imagery – voltage lips, killer eyes, love that’s as cold as ice. “I’m the storm / I’m the quake / I’m the risk you shouldn’t take,” Dina warns. The track describes a figure of dangerous power who doesn’t just weather the storm but rather becomes it.

“Don’t mess with me / I warned you twice” Dina repeats, but by then it’s too late. With a groove this intoxicating, it’s hard not to be pulled closer.

The extended version offers a DJ-friendly cut with even more time to fall under its spell. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…
