Revered collaborators Lauer and Fabrizio Mammarella unveil their blinding 4-track EP ‘Megamix’ on Mammarella’s own imprint Wrong Era. Known for their consistently innovative sound, ‘Megamix’ leans into Proto Sensibilities, expanding on a seminal sonic lineage, broadening club boundaries.

‘Das Ende’ opens the release in arcane, anthemic flair. Iconic arps shimmer and lasers punctuate.
‘Glutamania’ brings the acid to the fold, opening with their unmistakable metallic snares and pads soaked in nostalgia for an unknown time. These elements culminate in a synth hook set to ignite minds and warehouse floors.
Main Track: ‘Megamix’
The title track ‘Megamix’ opens as a hi-energy, vocoder-fuelled triumph. Menacing acid and sweet hats command the mix, driving too flanged fills and augmented dirt. ‘Megamix’ appropriately guides the track, as envelopes unfold and filters crunch.
Transporting you to the energy of their pounding sets, ‘You Might Be Lonely Up Here’ dances with the delicacy of arps and the muscle of bass oscillations. Their familiar mechanical chimes circulate, and long analogue lines fizz.
Black Spuma’s latest offering traverses their honed realms. Dark and pumping, ‘Megamix’ stands as a bold celebration of Black Spuma’s sound. Each track highlighting their signature chemistry, blending distinct influences into a seamless, forward-thinking journey. As they continue to push boundaries and redefine their sound, ‘Megamix’ cements Black Spuma’s status as sonic luminaries.

Details:
Lauer
Lauer is the alias of Frankfurt-based musician and producer Phillip Lauer, a key figure in contemporary electronic music whose work moves fluidly between house, electro, techno and leftfield club sounds. Known for his distinctive balance of analogue warmth, playful melodies and machine-driven grooves, Lauer has developed a sound that feels both deeply rooted in dance music history and distinctly contemporary. His productions and DJ sets are marked by an instinct for detail, rhythm and atmosphere, connecting the intimacy of synth-driven music with the physical energy of the dancefloor.
Fabrizio Mammarella
Fabrizio Mammarella is an Italian DJ, producer and label head whose eclectic approach draws from Italo disco, electro, acid, New Beat, house and experimental electronics. Over the years, he has become a defining presence within the international underground scene. He achieved this both through his own productions and his work as a curator and selector. His label Wrong Era reflects this broad musical vision, providing a platform for sounds that revisit and reinterpret the less conventional histories of club culture. Mammarella’s work is characterised by a fascination with analogue machines, obscure references and hypnotic grooves, balancing nostalgia with a distinctly forward-looking sensibility.
