SCOPE BLN at Berlin Art Week: Group Exhibition

SCOPE BLN ART WEEK during BERLIN ART WEEK brings together six artists who participate in the Scope BLN residency program. Their practices inhabit the unstable territory between memories, objects, bodies, stories, and archives. Their works move between the intimate and the collective, the physical and the psychological, the remembered and the imagined. Here, the personal is never entirely private.

A handwritten letter, a body, a video, a sound, a book, an image, a piece of fabric, a sculptural surface. Each medium becomes a potential container for something that cannot be contained. 

About the Artists

For Catie Rutledge, the archive is not a static repository but something that can be activated through the body. Personal testimony, queer histories, performative gestures and archival material converge to recover forms of intimacy and community.

Isidora Cáceres, perceives thoughts, confessions and desires as move from the internal world into physical form. Through texts, images and objects, she creates a material vocabulary for experiences that resist straihtforward articulation. 

Paweł Reczek, let the body becomes a vessel of cultural and personal memory. Drawing on Polish folklore and the mythology of his native village, his practice moves through death, queerness, violence and sensuality.

Hilla Padan approaches the equally elusive promise of happiness and security. She brings together video, sound, illuminated fabric, and bunkers space. These elements construct a psychological landscape. In this landscape, comfort is continually desired, approached, and deferred.

Ayong Son turns instead towards the unstable boundary between the finished and unfinished. She begins from completion only to reverse it. She makes transformation itself the subject of the work. This approach is a continuation of her solo exhibition for Scope BLN this spring.

Emilee Robinson, meanwhile, considers the fragile relationship between memory and preservation, exploring how cherished experiences gradually degrade despite our attempts to hold them intact.

Together, the works create a constellation of unstable states: remembering and forgetting, wanting and possessing, exposing and protecting, finishing and undoing. What connects the artists is not a common medium or aesthetic. Instead, it is their willingness to remain inside processes that have no definitive endpoint.

Scope BLN is a contemporary art initiative in Berlin-Moabit. Its international Artists-in-Residence program provides an open platform for multidisciplinary artists. Cultural practitioners can showcase their work. They gain wider recognition and expand their professional network in Berlin.

The Scope BLN’s exhibition space develops its program in collaboration with curators, artists and artistic groups, aiming to create new audiences of contemporary art.
