After two and a half years anchoring Berlin’s vinyl community on Karl-Marx-Straße, Rough Trade is packing its crates and moving just around the block. On the 1st of September 2026, the legendary independent music retailer will open its new space. The location is an integrated retail and warehouse at Ganghoferstraße 10 in Kalle Neukölln. But the true christening of the new space happens on Thursday, 08-10-2026, when the store throws a massive opening bash that firmly cements its place in Berlin’s nightlife and live music ecosystem.
Children of the Night
The October 8th opening party promises to be a heavy-hitting celebration of the city’s electronic and post-punk DNA. It is built around an unmissable live performance by Dina Summer. As the collaborative powerhouse of Local Suicide and Kalipo, Dina Summer bridges the gap between 80s dark disco, synth-wave, and gritty electro-clash.
This gig is effectively a midnight release party – their highly anticipated new mini album, Children of the Night, drops the very next day on October 9th. Fans can expect an intense, sweat-drenched show. The set will be high-octane and push the store’s brand new, purpose-built stage. Its roaring Marshall backline will be driven to its absolute limits.
B-Movie: Lust & Sound in West-Berlin 1979-1989
Joining Dina Summer are true Berlin underground royalty. Mark Reeder, the Factory Records legend who fundamentally shaped the city’s post-punk and electronic history, will be delivering a DJ set. Reeder is also known for his acclaimed 2015 documentary B-Movie: Lust & Sound in West-Berlin 1979-1989, which perfectly captured the city’s frantic, experimental underground scene before the fall of the Wall.
Techno Disco and cobra wave
Alongside him, Berlin based Greek-German Dj and producer duo Local Suicide will take to the decks with their signature blend of dark disco, EBM or as they like to call it “technodisco” and “cobra wave”.
The lineup is perfectly curated to break in the store’s new high-end Cambridge Audio sound system. This setup proves that Rough Trade remains a vital cultural hub rather than just a retail space. Tickets are available via DICE, though they are expected to move fast. Each purchase scores you entry to the gig, a physical vinyl copy of Children of The Night, and a signed poster by the band.
While the Karl-Marx-Straße location officially closes its doors on 27-08-2026, it leaves behind a rich legacy of midnight listening parties for Boards of Canada and Phoebe Bridgers, alongside intimate gigs from Peaches and Fontaines D.C. The new Ganghoferstraße location takes that foundation and dramatically upgrades it. The new Kalle Neukölln space has a prominent glass storefront. It also features a dedicated bar where music fans can hang out. The layout is optimized for crate-digging. This space brings the brand’s retail and warehouse operations together under one roof.
Rough Trade 50th Drop 4
For those who want to explore the racks before the October party, the shop officially opens on Tuesday, 01-09-2026. Opening day gives early birds the first crack at the Rough Trade 50th Drop 4 (2006-2015), a limited-edition vinyl collection featuring sought-after releases from Radiohead, Tame Impala, The xx, Bon Iver, and Nick Cave.
