Better known as one half of the Dutch duo Amy Root, Den Haag-based producer Sjoerd Huissoon is carving a name for himself as a versatile creator, both in the studio and on stage. Having shaped the sonic identity of projects like hip-hop/soul act Dragonfruit—who performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2022—and Dutch pop artist Huize Lucas, he now operates solo under the name Syird.
His dynamic, nostalgia-soaked sound blends electronic styles (deep house, techno, jungle) with acoustic elements and pop sensibility, showcased in releases on Amsterdam’s Reflektor and Anjunabeats’ Reflections.
A self-proclaimed tech nerd, Sjoerd’s work is fueled by curiosity and a thirst for learning, drawing inspiration from artists like Overmono, Chemical Brothers, Bonobo, and Bicep, yet charting his own path.
Whether producing for Netflix and HBO or teaching as head of production at Codarts Conservatory, where he graduated cum laude in 2019, Sjoerd brings an explorative, resourceful mindset to every endeavor—both in the studio and beyond.
