The next generation of image makers
The international institution Fotografiska announces the launch of its new global emerging artists program, a hybrid digital platform and in-museum initiative designed to recognize, elevate, and connect the next generation of image makers across lens-, time-, and prompt-based art.

At the core of the program is a series of free, international open calls, offering emerging artists the opportunity to submit their work for professional review and gain access to exhibitions, global visibility, and institutional recognition.
Rooted in Fotografiska’s mission to inspire new perspectives, the program expands the museum’s ecosystem beyond its physical locations. In Berlin, Stockholm, Shanghai, Tallinn, and soon Oslo, Fotografiska is creating a continuous and accessible entry point for emerging artists worldwide.

What artists can apply for:
Human rights day open call
In collaboration with photography 4 humanity and the united nations, artists are invited to respond to urgent global themes through visual storytelling. Selected works will be exhibited at un headquarters in New York City on world human rights day (December 10, 2026) .
Fotografiska x jägermeister open call
Night aesthetics – A global open call is exploring contemporary interpretations of night culture and identity through photography and image-based work.
Local emerging artist open calls
Dedicated calls in berlin, stockholm, and tallinn, offering selected artists the opportunity to present a solo emerging artist exhibition at their local fotografiska museum. All open calls are free of charge. In addition, artists can apply for profile verification, granting them a dedicated portfolio page and personal url on fotografiska’s platform. This feature is increasing their visibility within a global network of artists, curators, and institutions.
“Emerging artists have always been part of fotografiska’s dna,” adds Pauline Benthede, global vp artistic direction & exhibitions. “with this platform, we are creating a structured and transparent pathway from digital discovery to institutional exhibition. Our curatorial teams across all locations will actively engage with the platform to identify new talent and stay closely connected to how visual culture is evolving in real time.”
