A journey through memory, sound and South America
Italian producer Mondocane returns with Semillas, a four-track EP arriving on 30 January 2026 via Latinambient, the new label curated by Populous. Rooted in field recordings captured on Lake Titicaca in Peru, the release transforms environmental sound into immersive electronic compositions that move between downtempo, tribal rhythms and organic textures.
From Lake Titicaca to the dancefloor
The EP’s lead single, “Uros”, originates from a field recording made in 2021 among the floating islands of the Uros people. Four years later, the recording resurfaces as the foundation of a composition that explores memory, time and transformation. Warm Latin percussion meets dreamlike atmospheres, creating an intimate piece of organic electronic music that reflects Mondocane’s genre-fluid approach.
Across its four tracks—“Ayawaska”, “Uros”, “Nawi Kuna” and “Wayna Kuna”—Semillas unfolds as both a geographical and emotional journey. Built from sketches recorded on a portable recorder, each composition develops into its own sonic landscape while remaining connected through themes of nature, cycles and cultural memory. The artwork by Carlo Alberto Giardina further reinforces this concept, visualising fertile ground where memories become new creative growth.
About Mondocane
Based in Rome, Mondocane has spent nearly two decades developing a sound that bridges electronic experimentation, psychedelic influences and dancefloor-driven rhythms. His productions combine global bass, tribal percussion and expansive soundscapes while avoiding conventional genre boundaries.
Throughout his career he has collaborated with artists including Populous, Front De Cadeaux, Fabio Fabio, Tropicantesimo, A-Tweed and Salò. His music has appeared on labels such as Ivreatronic, Cosmovision Records, Epicure Records and Playground Records, while his monthly residency on Rough Radio serves as an ongoing platform for his evolving sonic explorations.
Mondocane has performed throughout Europe and South America, appearing at festivals and venues including Universo Paralello (Brazil), Boomtown (UK), Costeño Beach (Colombia), Cross Club (Czech Republic), WAO Festival, Fantasia, Samichay, Dum Dum Republic, Angelo Mai and Ariano Folk Festival in Italy.
