New EP: Revving by Desinformant

Pedro Braga was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil and is currently based in Naarm, Australia. He became a part of his home town’s emerging music scene by organising parties and getting involved in a number of events, going from illegal street raves to warehouses, and on to the most prestigious local clubs, Deputamadre and Tikal in 2017. Two years later in 2019, he moved to Naarm (Melbourne) and shortly after became one of the minds behind Rolê, an art and events collective that had been active in the Victoria capital since 2018.

In the years that followed, the stagnation caused by pandemics deeply affected the local music scene. During that time, alongside the other members of Rolê, Pedro focused on creating online content, such as livestreams and written interviews. Promoting engagement with the audience whilst hoping that once lockdown restrictions lifted and people were able to attend events again, they would be able to finally connect with supporters and other artists in person. At the same time, he became inspired by the absurdity of the global situation and the widespread disinformation in regards to politics and the pandemics. He adopted the alias Desinformant, which he carries as his main performance name.

Electro and Ghettotech

In 2021, he had his first release with the Portuguese record label ‘Ovelha Trax’; a label that focuses on Electro and Ghettotech and whose tracks had been a staple on his DJ sets for over a year. Later on, he released another original and a remix on the same label, and had two other releases with Tiblisi based ‘Your Character’ and Naples based ‘Angels Gun Club’ (a collaboration with Tom Place).

When COVID-19 restrictions were finally lifted, Pedro rode that initial boom of events with Rolê and No-Dose (a temporarily active crew in the first years post pandemic), and was able to steadily establish himself in the Melbourne’s music scene, having performed at the late Colour Club, Revolver Upstairs, Section 8, The Gasometer, Whitehart, Killing Time, The Toff and multiple renegades. For the last 3 years he’s performed at Motion Music Festival in Nungurner, Victoria and holds the festival close to his heart.

resonate bass-lines and percussive fills

‘Revving’ is Desinformant’s first full length EP release on Rotterdam (via London) label Feed The Void. It sees a merging of Braga’s Electro, Bass and Ghettotech influences. Title track ‘Revving’ is a half time Bass track, which switches the traditional breakbeat focus of snare drums with claps. The simple but incredibly meaty bass line packs some extreme power throughout, making it the perfect taste of what’s to come for the rest of the EP.

‘Engage’ cleverly switches between half time heavy duty Bass music and full time Electro inspired Breakbeat. ‘The Perennial Question’ is a collaboration track between Desinformant and fellow Naarm based producer Hedchef; a structurally intelligent percussive track that still packs plenty of punch. EP closer ‘Flashbacks’ is the most Ghettotech inspired track of the whole EP with the vocal being pushed to the front, a driving resonate bass-line and percussive fills.

‘Revving’ is the perfect peak time bass music offering and a brilliant first release of 2024 for Feed The Void. Pre-order here
