Outlaw Feelings ist eine Einzelausstellung der in Berlin lebenden Künstlerin Melanie Jame Wolf im Projektraum Neun Kelche. Immer wieder bewegt sich die Künstlerin zwischen darstellender und bildender Kunst. In dieser Ausstellung zeigt sie erstmalig ausschließlich skulpturale Arbeiten. Die ortsspezifische Installation ist Teil ihrer langjährigen Forschung zur Performativität von Objekten und Materialien im Ausstellungsraum – dieses Mal mit besonderem Fokus auf Textil. 

Wolfs Arbeiten fokussieren gesellschaftlichen Erwartungen zugrunde liegende Politiken und Poetiken im Bezug auf die Eindämmung von Emotionen. Die Künstlerin interessiert sich für die subversive Kraft verbotener Gefühle – Gefühle, die nicht in den Alltag zu passen scheinen und sich der Eindämmung verweigern, wie Trauer, Wut, schwarzer Humor und „zu laute“ Freude – und für die persönliche und gesellschaftliche Entfremdung, die ihrem Ausdruck folgen kann.

Nach Melanie Jame Wolfs Einzelausstellung The Creep im E-Werk Luckenwalde ist Outlaw Feelings der zweite Teil ihrer Trilogie über geächtete Gefühle. In Kooperation mit dem Berliner Project Space Festival präsentiert Melanie Jame Wolf am Eröffnungsabend der Ausstellung die Performance Burden Ballads.  Wir laden herzlich zur Ausstellungseröffnung ein und wir freuen uns auf euch!

­OPENING – PROJECT SPACE FESTIVAL 

June 8, 2024, 5 – 10 pm

Outlaw Feelings is a solo exhibition at Neun Kelche by Berlin based artist Melanie Jame Wolf. Over the years, the artist has moved between performance and visual art. In this presentation, she will show exclusively sculptural works. The site specific installation is part of her long-term research into the performativity of objects and materials over time in the exhibition space – in particular fabric.

Wolf’s works focus on the politics and poetics of social expectations for the containment of emotion. The artist is interested in the subversive power of outlaw feelings – feelings that leak and refuse containment such as grief, rage, dark humor, and joy that is ‘too loud’ –  and the personal and societal alienation that can follow their expression.

After Melanie Jame Wolf’s solo exhibition The Creep at E-Werk Luckenwalde, Outlaw Feelings is the second part of her trilogy on outlaw emotions. In cooperation with the Berlin Project Space Festival Melanie Jame Wolf presents the performance Burden Ballads on the opening night of the show.  We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition and we are looking forward to seeing you!
