AFTER IMAGES, kuratiert von Lisa Long mit Unterstützung von Line Ajan und Josefin Granetoft, ist die erste Gruppenausstellung des JSF ohne Film oder Video.
Die Ausstellung schlägt eine Neukalibrierung unserer Beziehung zum Sehen und zur zeitgenössischen Bildkultur vor, indem sie das Visuelle auf das Haptische (Tastsinn) und Multisensorische ausweitet und sich vom Raum des Bildschirms zum verkörperten und erfahrbaren Weg des Betrachters bewegt.
Von Geruchsnoten über Punktwolken bis hin zu Lichteingriffen weisen verschiedene sensorische Ansätze auf alternative Formen der Darstellung und auf eine verkörperte Erfahrung hin, in der sich multidirektionale Sinneswahrnehmungen treffen.

Double Feature: THEODOULOS POLYVIOU.
DOUBLE FEATURE – kuratiert von Line Ajan & Lisa Long und unterstützt von Team Global – findet gleichzeitig in Düsseldorf (1. September 2024 – verlängert bis zum 6. April 2025) und Berlin (12. September 2024 – 27. April 2025) statt und präsentiert Werke des zypriotischen Künstlers Theodoulos Polyviou.
Die Einzelpräsentationen, die Video, Skulptur, Archivobjekte, Fotografie und Drucke umfassen, führen das dritte Kapitel von Polyvious fortlaufender Serie Transmundane Economies (2022 – laufend) in Deutschland ein.
In dieser Serie setzt der Künstler digitale Technologien wie virtuelle Realität und CGI-Filme ein, um das zypriotische Kulturerbe zu untersuchen, zu rekonstruieren und historische Lücken zu füllen. Damit bietet er alternative Möglichkeiten, die historischen Komplexitäten der Insel neu zu betrachten. read more

AFTER IMAGES, curated by Lisa Long with support from Line Ajan and Josefin Granetoft, is the first group exhibition staged by JSF with no film or video.
The exhibition proposes a recalibration of our relationship to seeing and to contemporary image culture, expanding the visual toward the haptic (sense of touch) and multi-sensorial and moving from the space of the screen to the embodied and experiential path of the viewer.
From olfactory notes, to point clouds, and light interventions, different sensorial approaches point to alternative forms of representation and to an embodied experience where multidirectional sensualities meet.

DOUBLE FEATURE – curated by Line Ajan & Lisa Long and supported by Team Global – is taking place simultaneously in Düsseldorf (1st September, 2024 – extended till the 6th April 2025) and Berlin (12nd September, 2024 – 27th April 2025) and present works by Cypriot artist Theodoulos Polyviou.
Spanning video, sculpture, archival objects, photography, and prints, the solo presentations introduce the third chapter of Polyviou’s ongoing series Transmundane Economies (2022 – ongoing) to Germany.
In this series, the artist deploys digital technologies like virtual reality and CGI filmmaking to study, reconstruct, and fill in historical gaps of Cypriot cultural heritage, offering alternative ways to revisit the historical complexities of the island. read more
