MAN MADE MONSTERS – exhibition by Alejandro Montero Bravo
Alejandro Montero Bravo presents an expansive sculptural installation that captivates with its organic presence at the Scope BLN.
MAN MADE MONSTERS is an expansive sculptural installation that captivates with its organic presence, transforming the Scope BLN space through a compelling spatial dialogue. The massive forms “explode” within the clean lines of the gallery and cinema rooms. Yet, this rupture feels softened by the alluring textures and materials used.
Alejandro Montero Bravo selects textiles—traditionally viewed as feminine—as the primary medium, amplifying them in bold, disruptive ways to challenge gendered conventions. These textiles intertwine with ceramics and create handmade forms that exude softness and fragility. Contrasting sharply with the textiles’ unapologetic expression of femininity.
This project probes how bold femininity and female sexuality are often villainized in pop culture and history, examining how aesthetics have been used to dictate who can be “feminine,” shaping self-expression while shaming those who defy gendered norms. Society often weaponizes aesthetics to portray marginalized groups as “monstrous.”
Montero Bravo’s work consistently reimagines femininity and gender through an aesthetic lens. Bravo suggests that understanding how aesthetics impact daily life enhances our perception. We can see how societal judgments shape both people and visual culture. The installation reflects on the “monstrous feminine.” This concept was developed by feminist theorists like Barbara Creed. The piece contextualizes to the fear of female power, often linked to the body and sexuality.

Schools of Hope: Children’s Dreams – Future Spaces
Join the exhibition opening by Ottjörg A.C. on Friday, November 8th, in Kreuzberg. On Friday the 22nd roam projects will host an artist talk.
In 2007, a relatively quiet time for Lebanon, Israel and the Palestinian territories, the artist Ottjörg A.C. used original classroom desk tops, which had been scratched and engraved by pupils, to put through the printing press. The resulting large-format etchings tell of the hopes and fears of young people from schools in Beirut, Haifa, Jerusalem and Ramallah.
The exhibited intaglio prints are part of a global project on the school desk top as a social and aesthetic storage medium for teenage speechlessness. This extensive project was realised between 2006 and 2016 under the title DeskXistence. It involved 48 schools in 18 cities across five continents. The work on the printing press was carried out locally or in the region. Ottjörg created a total of 618 etchings. Each print is the size of the school table top from which it has been made.
The carved “scholarglyphs”, made by adolescents in Israel, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories in 2007, show that the urge to express oneself on the surface of a school desk is similar, wherever the school is located. In 2024, these etchings hold a new meaning. The path of decision making
Schools and classrooms are closed rooms within closed spaces: on the way there, freedoms are given up and discipline is standard (discipulus is Latin for pupil). In the classroom, knowledge is moulded into ideas of a promised future. For the moment, the pupils meander between attentiveness and dreams.
Their future is housed in a virtual space, even when school claims to offer a solid base and a secure foundation for the future. Feelings of hope and anguish, alignment or resistance are fellow travellers on the path of decision making.
The prints are impressive testimony as to how situations in different places are carried into the classroom and manifest themselves there on the pupil’s table tops. In 2024, the question arises as to what is happening with the dreams, with the future of young people when the walls of their schools can no longer impart safety?
When schools are destroyed, offering neither protection nor resistance, will fear narrow perspectives or broaden horizons? Where is it all going?

Neue ausstellung: Do you have a fave? @ Neun Kelche
Let’s get intimate: mit “Do you have a fave?” präsentiert Neun Kelche die erste Einzelausstellung von Marlene Denningmann in Berlin.
Mit Do you have a fave? präsentiert Neun Kelche die erste Einzelausstellung von Marlene Denningmann in Berlin. “Was ist deine Lieblings-Sexszene?”

November 9 – December 1, 2024
OPENING: November 8, 2024, 5 – 9 pm
Opening hours: Fridays, 2 – 7 pm and by appointment With Do you have fave?, Neun Kelche presents Marlene Denningmann‘s first solo exhibition in Berlin. “What is your favorite sex scene?” — this is the topic discussed by three people lying on the floor in the artist’s newly produced video work, which is shown as a single-channel installation in the project space.
The intimacy coordinator Marit Östberg, the film scholar Elena Baumeister and the performer Melanie Jame Wolf talk about their first media experiences in which they encountered sex scenes and what reactions, thoughts and feelings these triggered in them.
Sex in film is still often characterized by the predominance of the male gaze, while the diversity of sexual realities remains invisible. Denningmann has the protagonists of her video work talk to each other about permissible desires and the excited rewinding and fast-forwarding of VHS tapes.
They retell their favorite scenes and thus stimulate the audience’s imagination. In a parallel plot, the rehearsal for a love scene on a film set is shown. With the help of an intimacy coordinator, desire far removed from normative stereotypes becomes visible.

Dina Summer: New EP – Zombie via Iptamenos Discos
Dina Summer returns with another single from their highly anticipated second album ‘Girls Gang’ which will be released on January 24th, 2025
The Berlin-based trio, comprised of dark disco DJ and producer duo Local Suicide and Frittenbude founding member Kalipo, unleashes ‘Zombie’ – a haunting, yet irresistible dance track that lures listeners into its soundscape of desolation with eerie synths, twangy 00’s guitar and supernatural vocals.
‘Girls Gang’ rides off the already rampant wave created by the success and hype of their latest singles ‘Alien’, ‘Halkidiki’ and ‘Schall & Rauch’. Now ‘Zombie’ follows suit and continues to showcase the trio’s fusion of New Wave, Post Punk and Synthpop, building tension for the full album release early next year.
‘Zombie’ is a track that will draw you out of the crypt, compelling you to shed your old skin, re-emerge and reanimate your limbs on the dance floor. The song encapsulates a melancholic yearning for kindred spirits amid an existence of perpetual solitude.
With its eerie yet emotive undertones, ‘Zombie’ channels a feeling of vulnerability and disconnection and seeks to humanize the monster within us all. Dina Summer‘s haunting vocals will encourage you to confront your inner solitude and submit to movement and sound as you’re guided through the fog to find your friends on the dancefloor.

New EP: Sam In Space – Dualities via Tour De Infinite
Hailing from Melbourne, Sam In Space is a DJ and producer who experiments with sonic sounds and acoustic instruments to create dark disco masterpieces.
Alongside his solo work, he is also known for his collaborative project Future City Punks with Traxion, showcasing his post-punk abilities. Unconfined to singular genres, Sam In Space will take you out of this world and back to earth through his exploration of music.
‘Dualities’ is an unsuspecting track; starting as a seemingly normal electro-disco song, the mood shifts to reveal a split narrative. With a steady beat and an ominous synth, it is the voice of a woman that guides you through the unknown. She declares, “If you are the sun, I am the stars”, pushing the listener into the cosmic order. While we may not understand how the universe works, there is a silent curator who keeps it in balance. After picking your brain with ‘Dualities’, Sam In Space asks you to look further within. ‘Introspection’ is an ominous track that dissects the mind, with the distorted robot voice inducing a sense of sci-fi anxiety. You live your everyday life in a heightened sense of awareness; this track forces you to step back for a moment of reflection.
MIND, BODY, CONTROL
‘Descendant’ drags us back into a more tribal state. Returning to a more primitive sound, we hear the banging of drums and the sounds of the jungle over the menacing synths. The evolution of humanity is about “MIND, BODY, SOUL”. Music has always been used to show this progression, yet Sam In Space reveals the cyclical nature of time. No matter how far the world progresses, it is the raw sounds of the world that will continue to inspire us.
Rolling off the back of this EP are remixes by Max Jones, Rigopolar, and BadWolf. Max Jones takes on ‘Dualities’ by having the female vocalist act as a curator of the night. Her voice fades into the drums, luring you into the song. The synths feel like strobe lights, with the music rolling directly into the back of your head. ‘Introspection’ takes on a new perspective as Rigopolar taps into the minds of dystopian antagonists.motions of a classic club track
With the repetition of the robot voices and the steady beat, you walk amongst an army of robot terrorists while Rigopolar’s remix plays through the speakers. Rounding off the last remix for ‘Descendant’ is BadWolf, ending the EP on a strong dance note. In keeping with the primitiveness of the track, BadWolf makes you want to move like an animal. Taking you through false drops and changing beats, it embodies the motions of a classic club track.
The ‘Dualities’ EP will be released via Rigopolar’s Miami-based Tour De Infinite on all platforms on November 15th, 2024.track artist duration: Dualities Sam In Space 6:59 Introspection Sam In Space 7:27 Descendant Sam In Space 7:44 Dualities (Max Jones Remix) Sam In Space 5:45 Introspection (Rigopolar Remix) Sam In Space 6:14 Descendant (Badwolf Remix) Sam In Space 6:11 release date: November 15th, 2024
