Garments made to last: “Terraforming” by Maria Chany
,

This latest collection, “Terraforming,” explored the concept of astronauts as modern-day colonizers of the universe, envisioning them as the knights of the new age. The collection delved into the human quest to find and modify planets similar to Earth to serve as habitable spaces. It posed a poignant question: Why are we investing in creating synthetic paradises elsewhere instead of making efforts to make our Earth a habitable place?

A Brand Rooted in Cosmic Inspiration

Maria Chany, an independent brand established in Belgrade, Serbia, has quickly become a favorite among celebrities and young people known for their strong attitudes and confidence. From its inception, the brand has drawn inspiration from the deepest secrets of the universe. As every human body contains particles found in the cosmos, so does the DNA of the Chany brand. Space, with its infinite mysteries, serves as a never-ending wellspring of inspiration for Maria Chany’s designs.

Chany’s Fashion and Her Latest Collection

Serbian designer Maria Chany stands for designs that transcend borders, which she proved again at the Spring Summer 2025 BFW show. Her collections are known for overcoming personal boundaries and becoming part of a new world where everyone can explore and express their identity.

Her latest designs featured oversized sleeves, overhanging shoulders, and a mix of denim, leather and lace. The show included striking elements like metallic looks with high shoulders and chain inserts, emphasizing the synergy of seemingly contradictory materials, that were showcased on a diverse cast of 33 models.

One Vision, Crafted by Four Hands

Maria Chany‘s brand stands out in the Balkan market, disrupting the safe aesthetics expected from local brands. With the designer herself and one seamstress, this brand makes a significant impact and contributes to the Key Principles of Slow Fashion prioritizing Quality over Quantity, producing garments that are made to last.

Together, they meticulously select and rework materials in their studio, creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, with utmost attention to detail. The collection featured silhouettes that are both bubbly and pointy, resembling strong structures achieved through extensive remodeling of previous patterns to create intriguing shapes.
