Dina Summer – Girls Gang Remixes via Iptamenos Discos

,

Berlin-based synth-wave band Dina Summer recently released their highly anticipated second album “Girls Gang” via Iptamenos Discos. Dina Summer has a decadent sound. Resident Advisor described it as “dark disco meets EBM”. The collaborative project is formed of electro-punk band Frittenbude member Kalipo. It also includes the dark-disco DJ & producer duo Local Suicide.

Their previous work includes the critically acclaimed 2022 album “Rimini”, which offers a nostalgic dive into retro disco vibes, along with the 2021 EP “Who Am I” and 2024 EP “Hide & Seek”. They contributed to Curses’ “Next Wave Acid Punx” compilation and participated in Purple Mag x radiooooo’s “2070” project. They also performed at Reeperbahn Festival’s prestigious “Collide Session”.

Dina Summer’s music has earned millions of streams and worldwide radio airplay. Their tracks have earned spots on numerous Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists. The music has been supported by DJs like Charlotte De Witte, Vitalic, The Hacker, DJ Harvey, Âme, Dixon, Joris Voorn & DJ Hell. Their releases have been praised by major publications. These include DJ Mag, Mixmag, Groove, Resident Advisor, Spiegel Online, Musikexpress, Rolling Stone, Tsugi, ELLE, Penthouse, and FAZE, among others. Their singles got played over 10.000 times by worldwide radios.

Indie pop hymns and undeniable club anthems

The new album is a versatile collection of 11 tracks that delve into themes such as empowerment, outsiderhood, impermanence, nostalgia, and relationships. Their debut album was characterized by its club-centric sound, which drew from Italo disco and ’90s electro influences. This new release explores a richer palette of new wave, post-punk, and synth-pop.

The sophomore longplayer is more song-oriented, often featuring real bass and guitar, and showcases a more vocal-driven performance from frontwoman Dina, incorporating more singing alongside her trademark spoken words. Yet, it retains the same catchy melodies Dina Summer is known for, offering both indie pop hymns and a few undeniable club anthems.

Now the trio are back with a number of club versions & remixes by befriended artists such as the legendary DJ Hell, dark disco all-star Damon Jee, Italian stallion Phunkadelica & French singer/producer and film composer The Populists (aka Yan Wagner) while kicking off their extensive Europe tour!

“FOMO”

DJ Hell is the godfather of electroclash and founder/owner of massively influential label International Gigolo Records. Helmut Geier has been behind the decks for many decades either playing in the greatest clubs throughout the world, at massive music festivals, or runway shows for the most hyped fashion brands besides producing music, acting in movies and designing clothes.

His extended mix of “FOMO” (Fear Of Missing Out) is a banging genre-bending journey through time & space. Incorporating a new baseline, driving hihats, live audience atmos and a punchy kick brings the track to another level and makes it a weapon on the dance floor.

“Girls Gang”

Damon Jee, hailing from the south of France, is a pioneering figure in the Dark Disco scene. With over two decades in electronic music, the Dust & Blood label owner has crafted a very unique sound. He transforms “Girls Gang” into a club bomb by incorporating his trademark big room energy, adding an epic break and warping the vocals otherworldly.

“Disco Goth”

The Populists is the club oriented DJ project of French singer producer, Gesaffelstein-collaborator and film composer Yan Wagner. Since 2014 he released EPs and tracks on tastemaker labels such as Lumière Noire, Zone, Detriti, Ritmo Fatale & XXX. On his remix of “Disco Goth” he combines laid-back Italo disco grooves with New Beat drums and gives a whole different feeling to the original.

“Alien”

Phunkadelica is the project of Sicily’s finest Luca Marano who’s been around since the early 2000s releasing on labels such as OFF Recordings, Innervisions, Correspondant & Multinotes under various aliases. His brilliant close encounter of the third kind (C.E.T.K.) mix of “Alien” is spiked with 90s electro house vibes with its warped vocals, lazer stabs & melodies and techy drum elements.
