A piece of Giulietta

Giulietta Coates in an English-born artist, living and working in Haute Provence, France for the past 15 years. Coates has been part of multiple group and solo exhibitions across Europe. Her works from the past 40 years – woodcuts, drawings, paintings – are in collections around the world. BBA Gallery is proud to have been representing Giulietta Coates since 2016.

The exhibition ‘Beyond Solitude’ includes works from the past 4 years. As first and foremost an artist, Coates adopted photography as a means to produce in the isolated Haute Provence. With wood personified as her “biggest collaborator”, the monochrome landscape photographs – through marquetry and custom framing – express Coates’ relationship to nature.

Explore the melancholy of longing and the unreachable at BBA Gallery until Friday 21. July 2023.
