Saavan has perhaps never been more aptly named than with their new album, “Pure.” Synonymous with “new era” in Hindi (the holy monsoon month), Saavan marks a renewal in their career. Now free from the electro-chill and downtempo scenes typical of sunset playlists, the Parisian duo allows themselves to explore new musical territories, “starting from scratch,” as Lucas (vocals, electronics) explains.

Claire and Lucas’s vocal interplay is ever-dreamy. The adventurous, disenchanted synthesizer textures characterize their work. Extremely diverse influences emerge from their music. A sonic palette liberated from conventions and inspired by the artists who have shaped the last decade.

Saavan drew inspiration from diverse artists. Mount Kimbie and Bonobo influenced their electronic music. James Blake and Chet Faker contributed to the R&B textures and emotion. Jadu Heart inspired smooth pop toplines. Tyler, The Creator gave insight into hip-hop and creative freedom. Saavan also explored a psychedelic vibe with Massive Attack. Saavan held nothing back. More radical and audacious, “Pure” resonates like the soundtrack to sleepless nights and the search for the light of day. An epiphany.

About Savaan

Saavan is a Paris‑based electronic music duo made up of Lucas Mokrani and Claire Lengaigne. Their sound blends atmospheric synth layers, evocative vocals, and deconstructed rhythms. This creates a distinctive sonic identity rooted in ambient, downtempo, indie‑electronic, and dream pop. 

The pair met while on holiday in the mountains, quickly discovering a creative chemistry that balances Lucas’s intensity with Claire’s softer sensibilities.  Their early work built their reputation in the indie-electronic scene.
