Destruction and renewal fold through the history of Ukraine, repeating the creases of the landscape, through generations. When a cataclysm occurs, it splinters the environment, leaving behind fragments of what once was. But what grows in its wake? Cherednychenko’s work speaks to this question with subtlety and strength, capturing the quiet effort of regrowth and the beauty that reclaims even the harshest of landscapes.
Her abstract reimaginings of botanical forms hold a tension: roots that push through cracks, petals that bear the weight of storms. Each piece feels like an intimate act of care, yet it speaks to a larger, shared experience of survival and persistence. A metaphor for endurance—a place where destruction does not mean the end, but the resurgence of the new.
“Re-generation” invites us to see how beauty survives upheaval and to understand that the act of resurgence is as much about resilience as it is about hope.
About the artist:
Veronika Cherednychenko, born and raised in Ukraine, creates evocative art that reflects her deep connection to cultural memory, identity, and nature. Her work explores the boundaries between personal and collective histories, blending natural and industrial materials to reflect the resilience and evolving nature of identity.
Growing up in a post-Soviet landscape, Veronika’s practice is a response to her experiences of migration, transformation, and the reconnection of fragmented memories. She studied Fine Arts in Lviv, with a focus on installation and sculptural techniques that highlight the themes of memory and environment.
“My artistic practice explores nature’s cycles: organic forms, growth, transformation, and inevitable processes like degradation and death—universal experiences shared by all living beings.
I aim to engage the unconscious mind, sparking the imagination to invite introspection and contemplation of the future. In my projects, I combine diverse materials and techniques to create immersive experiences for the viewer.
By blending traditional two-dimensional works, such as drawings and paintings, with moving images (video or VR) and sound, I construct multi-sensory spaces that blur the boundaries between the external world and inner reflection.”
