WHO:
Auriane Kolodziej is a Paris-based artist who transforms mirrors into haunting canvases that reflect not only her own image but the fragility of our existence. Her work navigates a space between presence and disappearance, with mirrors bearing witness to countless faces without capturing their essence, holding only light and fleeting memories.
Using resin blocks coated in black paint to symbolize melancholy, Auriane Kolodziej’s fragmented images evoke a perpetual state of decay, creating sculptures that feel both intimate and introspective.
WHY:
Beneath the Black Sand of Time, I Resist invites viewers into a shared space of introspection. Auriane Kolodziej’s mirrors become sites of self-autopsy, rendered in graphite and charcoal outlines, each line an excavation of the self. The exhibition includes handwritten poems in French and English, adding a final layer of intimacy and reflection on the nature of identity and impermanence.
Through this immersive journey, Auriane Kolodziej asks us to confront our own transient presence and to find beauty in the melancholy of the ephemeral. We hope you can join us for this powerful exhibition and become part of a dialogue that reaches beyond the surface of the mirror.
