FRANZISKA KLOTZ & JAN MUCHE: Das jüngste Gerücht
Under the title “Das jüngste Gerücht” (The latest rumour), borrowed from a cabaret program by Wolfgang Neuss from 1963, paintings by Franziska Klotz enter into a dialogue with paintings and sculptures by Jan Muche for the first time.
The two artists are united by the fact that they are inspired by images that have caught their eye. These can be documentations or images of historical events or works of art, but also digital or analog images that illustrate current events. For them, art is a means of relating to the world we live in, engaging with it and questioning it.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
FRANZISKA KLOTZ
Born 1979 in Dresden, Germany. Lives and works in Berlin, GermanyOrganizing the image field using color, shape and surface – the genuine means of painting – is central to the art of Franziska Klotz. Her work is characterized by a virtuosic handling of the different modes of painting. Using these purely painterly means, the Berlin-based artist always deals with the real world of the 20th and 21st century, toward which she pursues a subjective perspective that is guided by her personal impressions and feelings.
JAN MUCHE
Born 1975 in Herford, Germany. Lives and works in BerlinJan Muche (born 1975 in Herford) trained as a lithographer and was a master student of K. H. Hödicke at the Berlin University of the Arts. His works have been exhibited worldwide, including at the Marta Herford (2020), the Torrance Art Museum in California (USA, 2020), the Haus am Lützowplatz in Berlin (2017) and the Wuhan Art Museum in China (2009).
